The draft isn't even close to being over as we are only through the first 7 rounds of the Inaugural Draft, but GM Joe Brodsky has announced the teams Captain and his accomplices.
"Honestly, it really was a no brainer in regards to who our captain would be when looking at our current roster and the direction that this team is going in"
"The Blackhawks are proud to announce that their captain for the first season ever in the Top Shelf Simulation Hockey will be... Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. We feel that Nuge brings the best combination of leadership, talent, and two-way play both currently and moving forward. Nuge should be able to keep the kids in check even though he is one himself, he has shown poise beyond his young age of 22. He is the type of player that you can put on any line and he will give you all that he has to give without a peep of displeasure, which we hope will rub off onto the rest of the roster."
"Joining Nuge as the assistant captains will be our one-two punch from the NHL Nashville Predators... Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg. Ryan Johansen is currently our oldest player at 23 years old, but he has a lot to prove to us in terms of leadership and putting the team before himself. We feel that giving him the A will provide Johansen with some responsibility and a small leadership role behind Nuge. Eventually the intention is for Ryan to be the leader of this team, but he has to earn that right. Filip Forsberg was given the 2nd assistant captain title because of how important he is to this team. Forsberg still has much to learn when it comes to leading a team both on and off the ice and we feel that giving him the assistant captain will put him in a position to succeed and become a future leader of this team alongside his linemate Ryan Johansen."
There you have it folks, the Chicago Blackhawks have announced Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as their team Captain along with their first line duo of Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg as the Assistant Captains. These three players will have to show maturity and leadership in a position to show the other 29 teams that the Blackhawks mean business. They may not be ready to compete just yet, but a storm for success sure seems to be brewing in Chicago.
