For some of us, using the Simon T Hockey Simulator (STHS) is a new experience, so the staff have created this thread as a guide on how to use the Sim and to allow new users to concentrate their questions in one area. Feel free to post any questions you may have with regards to the STHS sim and an experienced user will be more then glad to help you out!
As the pre-season is about to start, the first step is to download the Simulator Client, the tool used by individual team GMs to set their rosters and lines, and the Client File, in order to access the league's files.
To download the Simulator Client, visit the STHS Downloads Page and download the STHS V2 Client: version 2.3 (second from the top for Windows users, third from the top for Mac or Linux users). Once dowloaded, you will be able to open the program, but it will tell you that you do not have a valid league file. You will now need to download the Bar Down Client File once the draft is over and the file is posted on the website.
To download the Bar DownClient File, click on the link under statistics on the top right of the hompage that says "Bar Down Client File". The file should be downloaded into your downloads folder. Once it is downloaded, to enter it into the Simulator Client, simply select the "open" option under "File" in the Simulator Client that you first downloaded and select the Bar Down Client File.
Now that you have the league file uploaded, you select your team and you can now start to edit your roster and lines. Once completed, ensure to click on "Save To File" on the right hand menu in the Simulator Client to save your lines and then attach them in an email to BarDownSimulation@gmail.com to have them loaded into the sim.
There are many additional actions that can be taken in the Simulator Client which we may highlight later on in the year, but for now, the basics of setting your roster and lines will be enough to get you through the pre-season.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to post them in this thread, or, for an immediate answer, feel to check out the STHS V2 User Manual.
I will also be creating a tutorial video if there is a need for it amongst our new members!
