Hey guys,
As you know we always strive to promote a fun, fair and active league, and today we're happy to announce a few Sim Settings changes coming for the upcoming Season. We've been testing the best possible combination of settings that relays the most realistic results, and I believe we finally have them. We also don't want to blindside anyone with these changes, so we're releasing them months before the Season starts/
Here are the upcoming changes:
General Sim Settings:
Coaches: 1
Fights: 40
Finance: 50
Goals: 25
Injuries: 30
Morale: 1
Penalties: 20
Shots: 70
Hits: 45
Powerplay: 30
Notes: No big changes here, Goals down to 25 from 30, Hits down to 45 from 50.
Fatigue for 100 Endurance:
Pro Players:
Level 1: 20 Minutes, Remove 2
Level 2: 25 Minutes, Remove 3
Level 3: 30 Minutes, Remove 4
Pro Goalies:
Level 1: 25 Shots, Remove 1
Level 2: 35 Shots, Remove 2
Level 3: 50 Shots, Remove 3
Notes: For the first two seasons fatigue was basically non-existent. After lots of testing we finally realized how crucial it was to get more frequent line changes and more realistic ice time.
Lines Times Maximum and Default %:
Lines #1: 30% Max, 30% Default
Lines #2: 30% Max, 30% Default
Lines #3: 30% Max, 25% Default
Lines #4:30% Max, 15% Default
Notes: This is the heart and soul of our changes. This will limit Forwards to roughly 20 minutes/game - highest in the NHL last year was Evander Kane at 21 minutes, year before was Tavares ar 20 minutes. Now I know a lot of people don't like limits and would like to compose their line-up as they see fit, but having a Forward play over 25 minutes a game is flat out unrealistic. There have been several instances where a team is playing a top line Forward on their first line, and again on their fourth line, which is borderline cheating. The new Fatigue settings combined with the Line Times limit will result in the most realistic sim seasons we have seen thus far.
The one thing the Simulator does not do is separate the Line Percentages from Forwards and Defense. *cue the gasps*. Don't worry, Defensemen can still play 25-30 minutes per game, however, due to the new Fatigue settings, only the Defensemen with high Endurance will be able to swing it every game. The reason Defensemen can still play so many minutes is because there are only three Defensive pairings, compared to four Forward lines. In order to get your Defenseman to play 25-30 minutes, simply put him on Line #1 and Line #4 (30% + 15% as default).
I'm sure we will get some feedback and that is welcomed, but please be sure to read through the whole thing before you post your questions.
Thanks and good luck in Season 2!
