With the NHL awards ceremony being tonight, let's hear what some of you guys think are the most likely candidate. Here are my choices.
Hart: league MVP
The winner here for me is clearly Patrick Kane. Not only did he elevate his game and become the spark for his team, he made everyone he was playing with that much better.
Runner up: Sidney Crosby
Norris: best defenceman
Erik Karlsson. For me this is clearly the top choice. As this award is listed for the best defenceman, and not DEFENSIVE DEFENCEMAN, I think he has this one over Doughty. He has started playing a lot better defensively then he did in his early years , and to put up a point per game and to be the first defenceman to lead the league in assists since Bobby Orr is a great feat.
Runner up: Drew Doughty
Vezina: top goalie
Most wins in the regular season, backbone of his team, I give it to Holtby
Runner up: Ben Bishop
Calder: top rookie
I know he probably won't win because he most likely didn't have enough games played, but I give this one to McDavid. Coming back from injury he was a point per game player. Winner in my books.
Runner up: Shayne Gostibehere
Selke: best defensive forward
So weren't they supposed to rename this the "second best to Patrice Bergeron" award.... Cuz clearly Bergeron will win
Runner up: Anze Kopitar
Lady Bing: most gentlemanly forward
The ever so gentile Anze Kopitar will take this one
Runner up: Loui Eriksson
Ted Lindsay: MVP as voted by the players
I think that Holtby will take this one by just edging out Kane.
Runner up: Patrick Kane
Jack Adams: best coach
Gerard Gallant. The way that he completely turned his team around and made them a contending team and a legit threat deserves the nod.
Runner up: Barry Trotz
GM of the year:
I vote the GM for the Stanley cup winning Penguins. Jim Rutherford made some good pickups in the off season that ultimately won his team the cup.
Runner up: Jim Nill
