The Russ made a huge move trading Star forward Nathan Mackinnon to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for 3 prospects and 2 draft picks. Coming back is Dylan Strome, Jared McCann and Oliver Bjorkstrand (along with a 2nd and 3rd round pick in next years Entry Draft).
Dylan Strome is a competitive offensive dynamo in nature, and possesses the technical skills and the intangible traits that differentiate leaders from followers. He makes his own luck; no number that shows up beside his name on the score sheet is handed to him on a silver platter. He consistently showcases the size and speed to attack and break through the opposition defense, and always knows where his linemates are in relativity to his position. Possesses a hard, accurate release on his shot, which he is never afraid to use. All-in-all, he is a player who wants to win more than anybody else, a person who takes it upon himself to do everything he can to help his team win, and a leader who provides his team with the motivation and will that it takes to win.
Jared McCann is a gifted playmaker who skates well, accelerating quickly and with strong lateral mobility. He has a long reach and utilizes it well in all three zones. He is a two-way center with outstanding hockey IQ and his on-ice vision and decision-making are exceptional. He plays at a consistent high level with determination and a competitive edge. He is strong on face-offs and should continue to develop the supplementary aspects of his game.
Oliver Bjorkstrand has a heavy shot and a quick release. He is an aggressive forechecker with little fear of traffic in the attacking zone. He plays a responsible defensive game but his strong suit is a nose for the net. He is a pure goal scorer that makes a living off creating scoring chances. He does not have much strength, but relies on his speed to outlast defenders. And as a bonus he is extremely fun to watch.
The Wild might be giving up on a superstar in the making, but the organization felt that bringing these three players in will help balance their top six along with current players Burakovsky, Draisaitl, Pastrnak and future players in Nylander, Dal Colle, Konency, Debrusk and Dickinson.
